Esch/Schifflange (Lux)

June 3rd and 4th 2023

Hephaistos Brudderschaft in association with FerroForum and with the support of CNFPC (Centre national de formation professionelle continue) is happy to invite you to the 6th International Blacksmith Festival in Luxembourg.

For this edition of the festival the former central workshop of ARBED-
Esch/Schifflange opens its gates to receive the blacksmith community to celebrate a great gathering.

Please visit the internet presence of FerroForum ( www.ferroforum.lu ) to see the impressive setting of the festival and learn more about the enormous work and unique projects of the association for preserving the tradition of iron smelting and processing which are the basis of the prosperity of today’s Luxembourg.


The festival is open to the public on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of June 2023 from 10:00 to 18:00.

- Forging of Team work & forge demonstration
- Exhibition of blacksmith art
- Blacksmith feast & musical interludes
- Official hand over of the teamwork to city and FerroForum officials.

Detailed Programm:

- Friday 2nd of June 2023
o From 12:00: site is open to blacksmith to arrive and to install their exhibits or working tools.
o 19:00 Hephaistos Brudderschaft offers a meal for the blacksmith and the crew (chili con carne for 5€, please register with the attached form).

- Saturday 3rd of June 2023
o From 8:00: site is open to blacksmith to arrive and to install their exhibits or working tools
o From 9:00 to 10:00: free Breakfast offered by the organizers to all the Blacksmith (please register)
o 10:00 Briefing and work distribution for the teamwork
o 10:00 to 18:00 work on the teamwork; forging demonstration *, exhibition of blacksmith art**, punching of commemorative coin, eat & drink on site.
o From 20:00 Blacksmith feast organized by FerroForum : “Ham am Deeg” (ham in crust) Luxembourgish culinary specialty ( please
register for 25€, with welcome drink offered by the organizers)
o After the feast: Musical interlude / Bring your instrument and join the jam session!

- Sunday 4th of June 2023
o From 9:00 to 10:00 : Breakfast for 8€ (please register)
o From 10:00 to 12:00: work on the teamwork; forging demonstration *, exhibition of blacksmith art**, punching of commemorative coin, eat & drink on site.
o 12:00 : Handover of the teamwork to the officials of the cities of Esch/Alzette and Schifflange and FerroForum.
o 13:00 to 18:00: forging demonstration *, exhibition of blacksmith art**, punching of commemorative coin, eat & drink on site.

* Forging demonstration: for whom who wants to demonstrate to the public how to forge a small workpiece that takes up to 30’ to make. We will make a program for the visitors and dedicate a forge for forging demonstration.

** The setting is HUGE. You can bring exhibits of any size. Please let us know if you need a showcase for smaller items, so that we can provide for these. You can
access to the setting with vehicles of any size to unload your exhibits or working tools, a crane and a forklift are on site to handle heavy loads.
